Message from The Snow

Walking along a snowy rural road I asked in my mind, “What nature being would like to speak with me today?”
I walked a few steps with possibilities floating through my mind.
Then I felt the intuitive hit – The Snow.
I stopped. Curious, I checked again to be sure.
“The Snow wants to talk with me?”
Looking at the Snow, the feeling of YES came again to my body. Correct!
A feeling of gratitude with a bit of excitement filled me.

The Snow was sparkling in the sunshine.
A few ice crystals were really bright.
I also noticed the softness of the shape.

Walking to a place where I could sit and more easily inquire, I held the gratitude I felt and shared with the Snow that I would like to continue the conversation. When I sat and felt into what was being shared with me, the Snow showed me the frozenness of it.
The solidity of frozen water. The strength.
It also shared with me how it
blesses everything as it falls, with everyone and
everything being an equal recipient of its blessings.

I again shared my gratitude with the Snow and continued to enjoy the sights and sounds of where I was sitting: Canadian geese, small birds twittering and flitting about, the warm sunshine on my face, nearby horses wondering about my presence.

May we all be like snow.

Sparkling, bright, soft,
yet solid and strong
blessing everyone and everything 
with whom we come in contact.

On a recent hike, a few days before the snow and cold arrived last week, I visited a nearby area that has been closed since the September flood and reopened just before Thanksgiving. The weather was gorgeous: warm for this time of year, barely a breeze and lots of sunshine. I found a place to sit and take in the surroundings. I enjoy the subtle color differences of the variety of vegetation this time of year. When the snow melts after a heavy snowfall the vegetation isn’t as attractive because the weight of the snow flattens it. I’m fortunate I took this when I did.

Creative Practice 11/25/2013

I’ve played with finger paint in the past and the color they create has appealed to me. It’s been a medium I’ve been wondering how to use in a project for some time. Having interesting envelopes on hand is something I prefer and I haven’t seen any that move me recently. Why not make them? Why not use finger paint?  It would be a good medium for gift wrap as well.

Hiking on an October day in the higher elevations, a friend and I ran into snow on the trail and strong winds, which is common. The scenery was spectacular though. I’ve found that since I’ve started photographing mountains, this is one of the most photogenic I’ve come across. The shape, the snow, the shadows, the surrounding terrain all lend themselves to creating good photo opportunities. Unfortunately I haven’t had the chance to spend a lot of time in this area.

While hiking on a beautiful late July day, I came upon a meadow carpeted with lavender and bright yellow asters. Several butterflies fluttered from one delicate flower to another.

This was taken in 2010 at a wetlands area that was heavily damaged in the September flooding. While visiting, I’ve seen bald eagles, great blue herons, goldfinches and one time a medium-sized orange and black bird that I believe was a Bullock’s oriole. This shot is the sun setting behind the Front Range foothills with one of the ponds in the foreground. In the late fall, and in winter with no snow, rather than photograph the drab greys and browns with the blue sky, I prefer making my photos monochromatic using the sepia setting on my camera. This was taken in the Indian Peaks Wilderness at about 11,800 feet elevation. It’s on one of my favorite trails approximately 4 miles from the trailhead. There was a powerful wind and with no trees to protect me on the tundra, the wind nearly knocked me to the ground.

On this day, I started out as one of the many who hike to the waterfall about three miles from the trail head. The spray from the large waterfall creates moss-covered rock and sustains water-loving plants like ferns. It’s a beautiful spot, but quite crowded. Seeking some solitude, I took a short side-trip down a less traveled trail decorated with bright yellow aspen leaves. Along the trail, I photographed the light in the leaves and scenes like this.

My boyfriend and I savored the boundless views on our hike to a mountain top in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. The tundra had turned from summer green to the colors of autumn.

Because of the damaged roads from the recent flooding, I adventured to a trail I've never hiked. Most of the wildflowers were finished blooming for the season, but I did spy these paintbrush. I sat on an old fallen tree trunk and enjoyed them for some time.

The day I took this I was captivated by the sparkles on the water. There were many more than on other days. It was taken just a few miles from my home at a wetlands area where I sometimes walk and sit. The area has had extensive damage due to the recent flooding.

Receiving a gift from your spirit guides

One event that can occur while you are in the spirit world is receiving a gift from your spirit guides. When this occurs, you may be receiving an energy healing. The gift and how the gift is given to you is a symbol for the energy healing. To interpret this event, ask yourself questions like: What does the gift remind me of? What do I associate with it? What do the colors mean to me? How was it given to me and does this bring up any associations?

A necklace placed around your neck may be an energy healing for your throat chakra.
A pink blanket put on your shoulders and wrapped around you may be an energy healing of love.

The gift may be an energy healing supporting the transformation you are currently experiencing.
A crown placed on your head may be an energy healing helping you step more fully into your power.

Use your intuition to decide which interpretation is correct. If you are unsure what the gift represents, the energy healing is still completed. If you are able to receive specific information from your spirit guides, ask them about the event and they will share information about it with you.
