What Works?

Hello Wild Creative Hearts!

If someone were to ask you, "What works for you in the creative process?" how would you answer? (Keep in mind that this could mean projects, relationships, parenting, businesses, making changes in life, as well as creative endeavors like painting, writing, dancing, acting, etc. )

I was asked this today. This is what I wrote:

Hiking and connecting with nature and with Spirit. It feeds and nurtures my soul and fills up the well. Spontaneous drawing and painting help me to focus on process rather than product and bypasses a lot of the critical voices. Playing, lightening up and not being so s.e.r.i.o.u.s. works. Asking myself, "How can I make this fun?" Quieting my mind and opening my heart. Trusting the process. Not forcing things. Telling myself that doing something small, bad and ugly is okay! Taking time off. Nurturing myself. Focusing on being rather than doing.

What works for you?
I hope you have a weekend that's perfect for you!

Which fits you best?

Dear Wild Creative Heart,

The great book I've been reading called "Changing Patterns" by Daena Giardella and Wren Ross lists four possible aspects of creativity which one might use. I found it interesting and wanted to share with you:

1. Problem-Solver: there's a need for ingenuity to overcome a problem or obstacle

2. Designer:desire to bring harmony to your environment and yourself. (they mention wardrobe and interior design, but I think it can extend beyond that.)

3. Inventor: Adding something new to the world, born from your curiosity

4. Expresser: The urge to convey your thoughts, feelings, musings and imagination.

For me, the expresser comes in first, far ahead of the rest! Spontaneous drawing and painting, a tad bit of sculpture, and recently writing... my soul wants to put everything on paper and canvas and walls and.... Then I'd say I'm a problem-solver. I love using the small questions to ask myself and the Universe about things that are puzzling to me and then allow the answer to make it's way to me.

The last two could be a toss-up. The Designer comes in last, especially if it is limited to clothing and interior decorating. I like nice things, but most interior decorators would cringe in my eclectically "designed" home I'm sure, but I do have around me things that I love. And for my wardrobe, I go for comfort! I ignore all of the "dress for success" advice and I am highly succeeding in my Levi's! Although in the computer world, I would say I was one of the better user interface designers where I worked, oh so many years ago, especially on casual Friday's. :)

Where do these aspects fit for you and how do they change? Is there one that you'd like to explore in more depth?

Happy Creating!

The *BIG* vision for the Creative rEvolution

Dear Wild Creative Heart,

My BIG vision is to create a *big* stir worldwide with the Creative rEvolution.

To hold wildly peaceful and fun events on every continent celebrating and assisting the emergence and evolution of wild creative hearts. (Okay, so maybe the penguins in Antarctica wouldn't be a good audience.... perhaps then, 6 of the 7 continents!)

I see billboards in major cities worldwide announcing the Creative rEvolution and inviting those inspired to join! I see smiling faces, hear joyful laughter. I see people resting and moving in nature. I see Wild Creative Hearts participating in creativity workshops and playshops!

Do you feel it? Do you feel the wave of rEvolution washing over the planet? I DO!

-----------------------------------------------------------

For now, I'm holding my vision in my heart and focusing on small steps: this blog, the website, the Facebook group, E-zine, and local workshops and events. (Local to the Boulder County, Colorado area.) Maybe some online classes and events as well! Whew! That is a LOT, so I must break it down into small steps.... I must ask my own Wild Creative Heart in every moment, what is the next small step? and then the next.... and the next....

Creative Process TIP: start small, take small steps and before you know it.... BIG things are accomplished and who knows what lovely events might occur?

Small Question: What one small and fun step can I do today regarding my own vision? Keep the step tiny. Really, really small. Your Wild Creative Heart might prefer daydreaming today!

Happy Creating!

Lisa

What IS the Creative rEvolution?

Dear Wild Creative Heart,

You may ask, if the Creative rEvolution has begun, what IS it? Simply put - it is the emergence and evolution of wild creative hearts worldwide.
Imagine: Worldwide online events, local events and workshops in the Boulder County, Colorado area with visions to include events around the world. People coming playfully together to explore their creativity and their Wild Creative Hearts and finding peace and inspiration resting and moving in nature.
Now actually, the creative revolution has been going on for millenia. The human creative spirit has been growing, evolving and blossoming since humans have existed. The Creative rEvolution I'm speaking of here is to highlight our creative spirit and create awareness; to light a fire of enthusiasm. Creativity is essential to the human spirit. It is who we are! Creativity and innovation is necessary and welcome in our work, our relationships, parenting, for social issues, and in every area of our lives. And the real beauty of it, is that it also brings about an entire new dimension to our lives that we maybe didn't know existed or somehow have lost touch with and need to reclaim.

The creative revolution is also a personal revolution that is unique to everyone. It begins the moment we are born. The REAL power shows up when we do it consciously; when we have knowledge of the creative process and can apply it in all areas of our lives. When we can recognize our own gremlins and gotchas related to the creative process and know how to move past them, as well as learn to honor ourselves and our own personal journey, the evolution moves at light speed.

What better way to consciously learn about ourselves and the creative process than to feed and nurture our soul with self-expression? Spending time on a creative passion in a loving, conscious manner is courageous, exciting and transformative. We become joy-filled and full human beings and our lives change to reflect those changes. We become our true intuitive, passionate, creative selves!

I will be traveling the journey right along with you. I will be learning more about myself and about my own gremlins and gotchas (like perfectionism, overwhelm and fears) related to creating and living that I experience on a daily basis. This is a life-long journey of exploring our creative spirits. There is not an end point, even though our egos would love for that to be true! It is about loving where we are right now and finding joy in the journey of being human and recognizing and nurturing our own Wild Creative Heart!
A warm WELCOME to the Creative rEvolution! Do you feel it in the air?
I'm thrilled you are here!

Love is a state of Being - Eckhart Tolle

Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you. It is not dependent on some other body, some external form.

In the stillness of your presence, you can feel your own formless and timeless reality as the unmanifested life that animates your physical form. You can then feel the same life deep within every other human and every other creature. You look beyond the veil of form and separation. This is the realization of oneness. This is love.

Flow & Trust

Whenever you need to honor the flow of the creative process that has brought you to the moment you're in -- even if it happens to be a difficult place just then -- imagine this: You are standing next to a beautiful , powerful painting that you have created. You are proud of this painting. It is you. A young artist, quite self-critical, comes to you in admiration and asks, "How did you get to this place?" You breathe deeply, smile and share the secret. "By trusting myself," you answer simply. And the young artist is filled with hope, ready to start again.

Inspiration

"When you are inspired by some great
purpose, some extraordinary project,
all your thoughts break their bonds;
Your mind transcends limitations,
your consciousness expands in every direction,
and you find yourself in a new, great
and wonderful world.
Dormant forces, faculties and talents
become alive, and you discover yourself
to be a greater person by far
than you ever dreamed yourself to be."
